Flights to NairobiEmirates coming in to land

It used to be that everyone heading to Kenya would arrive on a package tour that included flights and accommodation. That is no longer the case; many people prefer to do it themselves which is the best way to experience the "real" Kenya.

It really is easy to organise: find a good flight, book your hotels in Nairobi and elsewhere, choose and book a safari and organise a car rental or day tours to cover the rest.

Domestic flights allow you to get from Nairobi to the coast easily,  or you could take the train - one of the world's greatest train journeys. You'll find more details here.

In terms of booking flights, both within and to Kenya, Skyscanner.net is the essential tool you need to find the best deals.

Flights to Nairobi from Europe

From anywhere in Europe you have a lot of choices. The best fares tend to be those offered by Air France, KLM and Turkish, although both Qatar, Emirates and Etihad are well worth investigating.

Flying from Asia

Definitely choose either Qatar or Etihad. Both offer unrivaled service AND the best fares from all major cities in Asia -whether you are flying from Beijing or Bombay they should have a flight at an excellent price waiting for you.

Getting to Nairobi from the USA & Canada

Delta offers flights which are run on a code-sharing agreement with KLM (the Dutch airline).

Best airlines to look at in my view are KLM, Air France, Lufthansa (the main German airline), Qatar and Emirates. They fly from most major North American airports including Los Angeles, New York, Toronto and Chicago. From Chicago also look at United while from Toronto try Air Canada too.

Flights from Australia and New Zealand

No doubt about it, Etihad and Qatar are the ones to choose.

Flying to Nairobi from South Africa

I can really recommend you fly with Kenya Airways, they are a well respected airline with international ratings similar to South African Airways - yet the cost of their tickets is substantially more affordable. The other alternative is Ethiopian which, to most people's great surprise, is highly regarded internationally.
